Following the adoption by the General Assembly of its resolution 47/133 and of the Declaration on the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, the UN’s Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances was entrusted with monitoring the progress of States in fulfilling their obligations derived from this Declaration and providing assistance to States in the implementation of the Declaration and of other existing international rules. Paragraphs 46-68 of this report look at the types of reperatory mechanisms that would be best suited for addressing the suffering of victims of enforced disappearences and of their relatives.
