2004 | US State of California, Class action lawsuit/settlements by heirs of the victims of the Armenian Genocide vs New Your Life Insurance

These class actions have lead, in two cases so far, to very substantial restitution and reparation payments to heirs of victims of the Armenian Genocide. Relying on The California Armenian Genocide Life Insurance Act of 2000, claimants sued two Insurance companies for their failure to meet their obligations towards policy-holders who perished in the Armenian Genocide. As to their goal these claims are comparable with the claims by victims (and their heirs) of the Jewish holocaust, against Swiss Banks. (See our section on Claims Commissions). Here you can read a statement by the Armenian National Committee of America about the successful out-of-court settlement (February 2004) of the class action claim against New York Life Insurance.
