With this resolution, unanimously adopted on 22 November 1967,  the Security Council aimed at securing a just and lasting peace in the wake of the Six-Day War fought between Israel, Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. The war brought the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and other territories, under Israeli control. The resolution calls on the war waging parties to end territorial claims, respect sovereignty, and for Israel to withdraw from occupied territories. Most remarkably, the text does not explicitly refer to Palestinians. Until today, this resolution is an important touchstone in attempts to settle the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Though not directly relevant in respect of reparations, the resolution articulates Israel’s wrongful occupation of territories after the 1967 war.
