2012 | UN-GA Human Rights Committee report HR/CT/744 (Summary) on progress in Human Rights Protections in Guatemala 2012
This report documents important advancements in the implementation of reparations schemes in Guatemala and also in the provision of access to information on the internal armed conflict using archives, such as that of the national police, the file of the Ministry of Interior and the archives of the Secretariat for Social Welfare.
Pages 1,3,5,8 and 9 include remarks on measures that were contemplated or already in effect for awarding different kinds of reparations to the many victims of Guatemala’s long years of internal conflict. A comment on page 9 indicates however that there is (as there so often is) a lag between the policy on reparations and actual legislation for putting that policy into effect.
