Recent Submission to the ECtHR in the Abu Zubaydah v Lithuania Case

Human Rights in Practice recently filed its final submission to the European Court of Human Rights in the Abu Zubaydah v Lithuania case. The new submission includes recent developments from a US Senate Intelligence Committee report that point to clear use of torture and brutality on Lithuania's part.

The brief calls for formal classification of the alleged wrongdoings, arguing that these violations amount to crimes against humanity. It also calls for Lithuania to acknowledge these crimes and provide appropriate remedies. In the name of transparency, the submission urges the Court to reject Lithuania's claim that all documents remain closed and confidential.
