2007 | Nairobi Declaration on Women’s and Girls’ Right to a Remedy and Reparation
This Declaration resulted from the meeting of prominent international NGO’s for women’s rights in Nairobi in March 2007. It provides a very expansive and far-reaching vision of reparations as going beyond all forms of compensation to actually drive post-conflict transformation of socio-cultural injustices. Reparation is part of the fundamental struggle against impunity and reparation programs must therefore address the responsibility of all actors from individual investors to State actors, foreign governments, and non-State actors, including armed-groups and multi-national companies. The particular needs of and roles for women and girls in the post-conflict reparations phase are given detailed consideration.
