2014 | Framework of Cooperation between Special Rapporteur on Sexual Violence in Conflict and the African Union.

This Framework agreement includes among its ‘overarching priority areas’, the combatting of impunity and promotion of accountability, the enhancement of information on sexual violence, the empowerment of women and girls and countering the stigma that attaches unjustly to survivors. Specific measures include advocating with Member States to monitor and draw attention to prevalent sexual violence and working to involve African senior politicians in championing policy initiatives aimed at eradicating it also proposes greater inclusion of women and girls in conflict resolution processes and building in safeguards against future violations in post-conflict criminal justice systems.
