2012 | Somali Government's Six-Pillar Policy
The African Union Commission descrbes the Somali government's Six-Pillar Policy as ‘a comprehensive policy framework outlined by the President of Somalia for the stabilization and reconstruction of Somalia, around which the AU and the international community should align its support’. The policy statement identifies the Somali Government’s six highest priorities in their efforts to alleviate the suffering of their people and to build functioning and reliable public institutions. Justice and security reforms come first. Women’s needs are addressed as part of Pillar two but only in relation to ‘recovery and development of the family income schemes that focus on women’s employment’.
