Hans van de Weerd is currently executive director for the international aid agency International Rescue Committee (IRC) in California. He joined IRC after a decade with MSF/Doctors without Borders, where he held several senior management positions.
Mr. van de Weerd ran MSF humanitarian programs in Iraq and India and was deputy director for MSF’s Access to Medicines Campaign. From 2008 till 2011 he was general director of MSF Holland and member of MSF’s global executive committee. Prior to his humanitarian work, Mr. van de Weerd was a banker at Rabobank banking group and a senior executive at Vopak International.
Mr. van de Weerd holds a master of science degree in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a master of arts degree in European Studies from the University of Amsterdam
