2015 | Swedish Case against Mohammad Droubi
In the absence of an English language court transcript of this case, this short article by Reuters describes the crime and the circumstances that led to the prosecution and conviction of Mohannad Droubi, by a Swedish court in 2015. He was sentenced to five years imprisonment for torture committed against an unarmed person in Syria in the context of the ongoing war there. Droubi became a permanent resident of Sweden in 2013. He was arrested after a video of the crime he committed was seen on the internet by Swedish police. This is the first prosecution in Sweden in relation to Syrian war crimes.
